Happy Halloween

Tonight Maw and Mike came over to help celebrate. Mike was wearing his Jason mask and proceed to scare both kids and adults as we went walking around the neighborhood.

After Billy finished soccer camp, he received a couple of tickets to see the Richmond Kicker’s play. I took both boys to the game and had better weather for playing with my new lense.

Today Martin went on the potty for the first time. For those of you who do not have kids, this is a *big* milestone as it’s the first step in getting away from changing diapers!

Happy Birthday Martin!

We can’t believe how big you are getting!!!

Love,
Daddy, Mommy and Billy

Conductor Needs Help!

Before school this morning, Billy put together the track below for Martin to play with during the day. Martin had fun playing with except for one small problem. If you look at the layout, once you go into the circle at the top, you can’t get out without backing up. Whenever he would drive his train into the circle, he’d get upset with it and insist that it was broken because he couldn’t get his train out.

Martin’s Root Canal

wbsiv_070831_04331.jpg wbsiv_070831_04334.jpg

Back on Superbowl Sunday, about 30 minutes prior to kickoff, Martin did a face plant in the middle of the family room and broke one of his upper front teeth. It didn’t bleed much and he was fine after a few minutes. That week we took him to see his dentist who then referred us to a specialist. The specialist took some xrays and recommended that we do a root canal to reduce the risk of it abscessing. Since (at the time) he was under 2 years old, it require that he be put under general anesthesia at a hospital for the procedure. We scheduled it for the first week in May. Two things happened during this period.

The first was that we caught a lot of grief from some friends and family for performing a root canal on a two year old. This upset us because we obviously didn’t *want* to do this, but believed it was the right thing to do. More on this later.
