VMI Marches in Inaugural Parade

Yesterday, the VMI Corp marched in the Inaugural Parade. They did a great job! Check it out.

Come on! Man!

At least I found it funny. I think having Steve Buscemi do the voice of the gingerbread man helps make it funny. Come on! Man!

Timbers vs Thomas Dale Knights

Tonight, Billy’s soccer team went to watch the Thomas Dale Knights Varsity Soccer Team take on Hopewell. We arranged for them to play some of the Thomas Dale JV players during halftime.

I put together this video that was shot.

It’s not the best quality (because of the video editing software) but I didn’t want to wait. Enjoy.

SNL Season Kickoff

Very funny start to the Saturday Night Live season.

Chicken Soup with Rice

Last week, when Martinah took Billy to the library, they checked out “Chicken Soup with Rice” which came with a sing along CD. I had to record his rendition covertly.

Wallace and Gromit

A few years back we were introduced to Wallace and Gromit via a set of short animations done by Nick Park and Aardman Animations. All of us were immediately hooked and have about worn out our DVD.

This weekend we went to see them in their first feature length movie, “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.” I had heard a review on the radio saying that it wasn’t as good as the shorts which prepared me for disappointment. I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed. “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” was very entertaining and I enjoyed the entire movie.

Wallace and Gromit were there typical selves, Wallace getting into trouble with his inventions and Gromit bailing him out. They were accompanied by a cast of colorful characters. Perhaps my favorite character was the Vicar, Reverend Clement Hedges who, when confronted with the knowledge that there is a creature eating up all the vegetables, declares “For our sins a hideous creature has been sent to punish us.”

We all enjoyed the movie and plan on buying it when it comes out on DVD. I’d rate it a least as good (probably better) as Chicken Run (another Nick Park/Aardman production) which we also enjoyed.

“Tricky fish! Tricky Fish!”

We just watched Lilo and Stitch. Funny movie!

“Oh, look, friendly little dolphin. They help sailors in the war… It’s a shark! It’s a shark and it ain’t friendly! It looks like a dolphin. Tricky fish! Tricky Fish!” - Pleakley

“Look! A mosquito has chosen me as her perch. She’s so beautiful. There’s another one, and another. It’s a whole flock. They like me. They’re nuzzling my flesh with their noses. Now they’re… they’re… Aaaaaaaah!” - Pleakley

“Thus far, you have been adrift in the sheltered harbor of my patience.” - Cobra Bubbles

“Earth is a protected wildlife refuge. See, we’re using it to replenish the mosquito population, which I remind you is an endangered species!” - Pleakley

“His destructive programming is taking effect. He’ll be irresistibly drawn to large cities where he’ll back up plumbing, reverse street signs, and steal everyone’s left shoe.” - Jumba

Jules (Samuel Jackson) from the movie Pulp Fiction.

The full quote is:

There’s a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. I been sayin’ that s**t for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your a**. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherf****r before you popped a cap in his a**. But I saw some s**t this mornin’ made me think twice. Now I’m thinkin’: it could mean you’re the evil man. And I’m the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he’s the shepherd protecting my righteous a** in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you’re the righteous man and I’m the shepherd and it’s the world that’s evil and selfish. I’d like that. But that s**t ain’t the truth. The truth is you’re the weak, and I’m the tyranny of evil men. But I’m tryin’, Ringo. I’m tryin’ real hard to be the shepherd.

Their Circular Life

Found on David Seah’s site is a reference to Their Circular Life. Pretty slick. I may have to give this a try.
