I can’t believe this woman that I went to high school with, hung out with in college, went to a movie with me once in a while after college, has been married to me for 12 years, given birth to two wonderful sons, and made me one of the happiest people on earth.
A few weeks ago, we took the boys to Maymont park to play with my new lens. Unfortunately it was drizzling and I didn’t want to risk taking out my camera so we used the point-n-click instead. Of course the sun came out when we were at the farthest point from the car.
After Billy finished soccer camp, he received a couple of tickets to see the Richmond Kicker’s play. I took both boys to the game and had better weather for playing with my new lense.
We took Billy and Martin to one of the local sports parks where my nephew, Brad, works. Billy tried the batting cage (slow pitch softball) for the first time. He did pretty well for someone who has never had to swing at a softball before.
Billy and I went to see the Richmond Kickers play against Bermuda last weekend. We met Matthew (one of Billy’s friends) and his dad, Pete there. Other than 45 minute rain delay, it was a really fun game. Richmond won 4-1.
I know it’s been a while since I posted any pictures and I have a lot of catching up to do, but these are particularly special to me and I wanted to post them as soon as possible.
This is the lawnmower my grandfather (Billy’s namesake) used at his cabin on the Shenandoah river. There are pictures (which I need to dig up) of me sitting on it when I was a toddler. When I was older I used it into my teenage years to cut my parent’s grass. It’s been sitting in their garage untouched for 10 years and we thought it would be neat to dig it out and try and get it running. A few tweaks are still needed, but it we were able to clean up the carburetor and get it running.
Tonight, Billy’s soccer team went to watch the Thomas Dale Knights Varsity Soccer Team take on Hopewell. We arranged for them to play some of the Thomas Dale JV players during halftime.
I put together this video that was shot.
It’s not the best quality (because of the video editing software) but I didn’t want to wait. Enjoy.

Around Christmas this year, Billy and I were able to go to a couple of college basketball games. The first game was UVa vs Elon. This was the first time I’ve been to John Paul Jones arena and it was very impressive. The game was fun, but not particularly exciting. Virginia manhandled Elon (as they should have).
The second game we went to was VMI vs the University of Richmond. This game was much more exciting. VMI opened to an early lead which Richmond reduced to 3 point by half time. Richmond took a 10 point lead mid way through the second half that VMI was able to eliminate and take a 1 point lead with 3 minutes left. It came down to the wire with VMI coming up short by 2 by missing a 3 pointer at the buzzer.
This year for Billy’s birthday, we tried something a little different. We decided to have a gym party. We did all the normal stuff, but then spent an hour in the YMCA gym playing kickball. I think the kids had a great time!
