Since the subject of Pocahontas came up in the last post, I thought I’d document here some information I was recently given. I’ve known since I was a child that my great grandfather (Charles Lunsford, Jr., where Martin gets his first name) was big into tracing our lineage and had documented that we are direct descendants of Pocahontas, but until recently, I hadn’t seen it.

Here we go. Each row represents one generation (husband and wife). Shaded boxes represents the child of the previous generation.

I haven’t been good about posting any photos for a while, but Billy asked me to print out some shots I took on a school trip to the Virginia State Capital, so I thought I’d go ahead and post them here. Many of the pictures of paintings were taken at bad angles and I used the Photoshop skew tool to straighten them. I think they turned out pretty well.
